Patchwork Sarees That You'll Totally Love!
We have released our new product category, patchwork applique sarees this summer which is a total hit! To be honest, patchwork sarees are Happy Pique's current favourite. We wanted to give our customers a unique and a rich clothing experience and we came up with this idea. The intricate patchwork border add to the glamour quotient of the garment, making it a perfect fit for bold and contemporary Indian wear.
Our new range of patchwork applique sarees are carefully crafted to perfection with so much love. We released two types of patchwork sarees; one in pure handloom cotton and another in kasavu cotton from Kerala.
Patchwork is a form of needlework that involves sewing together pieces of fabric into a larger design. Patchwork sarees that are fashioned from a fabric that has been created by piecing together bits of cloth of a variety of colours and textures. These textures in a patchwork saree could include Kalamkari work, Ajrakh fabric or solid coloured fabrics and they are stitched together using elaborate needlework and embroidery techniques. We have used patchwork to decorate the borders of the sarees and also creating unique and interesting designs on the body of the sarees.
In India, patchwork sarees are decorated with motifs that have definite religious significance. These motifs include the swastika, the lotus, the moon, and the sun. Several fabrics can be used as the base of a patchwork saree; while silk and cotton are more commonly used fabrics.
Applique, sewing technique in which fabric patches are layered on a foundation fabric, then stitched in place by hand or machine with the raw edges turned under or covered with decorative stitching. Applique work employs a number of stitches to attach the applied pieces on to the base material.
Like patchwork, applique designs were often inspired by everyday life. The designs are often based on natural objects such as the elephant’s foot, birds, flowers or leaves. To bring in the modern touch we have also used kites, owls, pots and kalasam applique patterns in our sarees.
This timeless artistic fabric can suit any occasion as well as celebrations like a get-together, informal bashes, social parties and other events. It is a relaxed part of a casual garment and is preferred for informal occasions or to set a trend by making a bold style statement. Its vivid hues make it the center of attraction at any gathering and adorn the wearer with spunk and vivaciousness, making it perfect for such occasions.
